Litter removal

At Durney Key, we strive to leave it cleaner than we found it. Each day we patrol the key looking for litter that might have been washed up by the tides or accidentally left behind. If you have spent enough time on the water, you know things can easily get blown off your boat as you come and go. 

We are interested in what items show up the most frequent. We use the International Coastal Cleanup data sheets to record what we are finding. Help us by doing your part to make sure everything is secure and won't blow away as you spend your day in paradise.

There are many ways to get involved with Durney Key. We welcome volunteers, researchers, and advocates who share our passion for protecting the key. Whether you want to participate in our ongoing projects, contribute your expertise, or support our project through donations, your involvement is crucial. Together, we can create a vibrant key for the animals and those who use it recreationally.
